Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between square and round diamonds?
Square diamonds sit edge to edge, so the finished picture is fully covered and looks like a mosaic. Round diamonds are quicker to pick up and more forgiving to place. Every design here comes in both.
Do I need any tools or supplies before I start?
No. Every kit comes with the canvas, diamonds, applicator pen, tray, wax and a symbol chart. You can unroll it and begin.
How long does a diamond painting take to finish?
It depends on the size and how often you sit down with it. A 15.7" x 19.7" canvas usually takes a handful of evenings. A 27.5" x 35.4" canvas is a project you come back to over several weeks.
Are these kits suitable for beginners?
Yes. There's no drawing or painting involved, only matching symbols to colors. Most beginners start with the smallest size and round diamonds.
What size should I choose?
Smaller canvases are quicker and easier to frame. Larger ones hold more detail, which matters most for faces, animals and busy scenes. For a first kit, 15.7" x 19.7" (40x50cm) is a comfortable place to start.
What if I run out of diamonds?
Every kit includes extra diamonds in each color. If you still come up short, contact our support team and we'll send what you need.
How long does delivery take?
Kits are made to order and arrive in 7 to 12 business days, with tracking. During our Black Friday sale, US shipping is free on 3 or more kits.
Can I return a kit if I change my mind?
Yes. Every kit is covered by our 30-day guarantee. Custom kits are the exception, because they're made from your photo.
Diamond Painting Kits for Adults
Diamond painting sits somewhere between paint by numbers and cross stitch. You get a canvas printed with symbols, each symbol matches a color of resin diamond, and you press the diamonds onto the sticky canvas until the picture is filled in. There's no drawing and no paint to mix. If you can match a symbol to a color, you can finish one.
All of our kits are made to order, and each design comes in three sizes with either square or round drills. If this is your first kit, our guide for beginners walks through the first hour.
What Comes in the Kit
You don't need to buy anything else to get started. Each kit has:
- A canvas printed in high definition, with an adhesive layer
- Resin diamonds for every color in the design, sorted by color
- Extra diamonds in each color, in case a few go missing under the sofa
- An applicator pen, a wax pad and a sorting tray
- A symbol chart printed on the canvas itself
Once you've done a kit or two, you may want a more comfortable pen or a bigger tray. Those are in diamond painting accessories and tools.
Square or Round Drills
Square drills sit flush against each other, so the finished picture has no gaps and looks like a mosaic. They take a little more care to line up, and they make a satisfying click when they drop into place.
Round drills are easier to pick up and more forgiving if you place one slightly off. They go down faster and have a softer sparkle. Most people start with round and try square on their second or third kit, but there's no wrong choice.
Picking a Size
Every design comes in three sizes:
- 15.7" x 19.7" (40x50cm): the quickest to finish and the easiest to frame. A good first kit.
- 23.6" x 29.5" (60x75cm): noticeably more detail, especially in faces, fur and small flowers.
- 27.5" x 35.4" (70x90cm): the most detail and the longest project. Worth it for busy designs with a lot going on.
The rule of thumb is simple: the more detail in the picture, the more it benefits from a larger canvas. A design with big areas of flat color looks fine small. A face or a crowded village scene looks better big.
